Sometimes we really need to spend a day with a child to remember how to live in the moment. Children around Caitie’s age are certainly not without their challenges to photograph. Tantrums are frequent and attention spans are short. I find posed photos for small children are extremely difficult, so I chose to do a more candid shoot. I really just followed Caitie around and let her run the show. This was challenging for me as I usually have a list of photos I want to take planned out. Throw your plans out the window when you work with toddlers and go with the flow. I asked mom, Lenore, to bring things to entertain her, and I brought bubbles and sidewalk chalk. This was Caitie’s first time in the sand, so we had a hard time getting her out of the sandbox for other activities, but all in all, we got some cute shots and had a fun morning in the park.
Thanks for stopping by my website. Stay tuned for more summer-y stuff in the next few weeks.

You may remember Jocelyn’s maternity shoot from back in the summer. Little Logan arrived safely and on schedule and has completed this glowing family. Logan’s big sister is doing a great job as well.
This shoot was interesting because big sister Kaytie was in no mood to be photographed that day. No matter what I(or her parents) said, she was not going to do what we asked. I had to exercise patience and problem solving and tried to catch her in some candid moments. We took her to the park and I tried to sneak around to get some shots of just her, so that everything wasn’t “just about the baby.” Sometimes, as we photographers know, the situation isn’t ideal and we have to work with what we’ve got; bad weather, crowded location, grumpy toddler. In some ways, this “real life” is what makes photography genuine for me. Real life includes rainy days and grumpy kids, and that’s part of the journey.
Enjoy the photos and if you really like my work, stop by my Facebook page and like it for real!
Thanks for coming by! TTFN

You remember the Gray family. Well, I recently did an outdoor shoot for them with little Logan, who is not so little anymore! He is sitting up and will be reading, writing and catching baseballs all too soon. Logan’s dad was sick during his newborn shoot, so I’m pleased we’ve finally got some pictures of them together. Here are a few of their photos.
Stay tuned for even more maternity photos and some vacation photos from my trip to the Rockies. Feel free to check out my contact page where I’ve posted my rates. Also feel free to sign up for email subscription on my website so you’ll be updated when I make a new post.

My cousin Nicole asked me to do maternity photos for her second baby. The shoot was fun and easy. Reese was a natural in front of the camera and I hardly had to pose her. Reese is now almost five and is very excited to be a big sister. At the time of the photos we did not know that the bundle inside this belly would turn out to be Reese’s sister Nathalie Ann! Congratulations to Nicole, Allan and Reese on a very special and long anticipated addition to their family.

For those of you paying attention, I had the honour of shooting Lisa and Scott’s Vegas wedding last September. Well, these kids didn’t wait long to get me another job as they are expecting Baby Gray near Christmas.
I spent an afternoon with the proud parents to be and I certainly put them through their paces. Being that it was my first shot at maternity, I was pretty nervous, but it was certainly nice to work with people I’ve known for so long. I think it helped make me more comfortable, but more importantly, helped Lisa feel comfortable too. Scott and Lisa were perfect – very patient as I asked them to do practically everything but stand on their heads.
Stay tuned for an update, as in about a month, I should have some newborn photos to post of the new Baby Gray! See you all soon!
