Welcome to my page! I’ve started a small business of handmade whimsical kokedamas, terrariums, arrangements and gift ware I make. In January, it was my plan to sell items at local markets beginning in the spring, but COVID-19 had other ideas this year. I’m currently in the process of getting my inventory stocked up so that when markets can resume, I’ll have a good selection of products. Photos shown are samples of some of my past kokedamas and pieces that have sold. Please inquire if you have questions or would like to discuss custom pieces.
For those that haven’t heard of kokedama before, they are a form of bonsai that originated in Japan. They are made by forming the plant’s roots into a ball of soil, wrapping them in moss and twine, and typically they are displayed by hanging them in windows. These little forms of living art are whimsical and give off a real air of magic. They make terrific gifts and are unique, stunning conversation centerpieces. These pint-sized, pot-less hanging gardens are perfect for apartments or for people who’ve just used up all of their available flat surfaces. Kokedamas are easy to care for; just a quick dip in a bowl of water whenever they start to feel “light”.
In addition to the kokedamas I make, I also create glass “sun-catcher” etchings, fairy jars, and rustic wooden signs. I strive to make items from re-used and re-purposed items so each item is unique and one-of-a-kind.
